Building Confidence
Through
Care.

At Embolden Allied Health, we provide neuro-affirming, person-centred occupational therapy that supports children and families to thrive.

Embolden Allied Health - Occupational Therapy Wollondilly region

Supporting children and families in the Wollondilly region, Embolden Allied Health offer an occupational therapy service focused on building confidence through meaningful, evidence-based care.

Our mobile occupational therapy service model allows us to meet children where they feel most comfortable – at home, school, childcare, or in the community – so we can understand their everyday environments, collaborate with their support networks, and provide practical support that makes a real difference.

We provide both individual and small-group occupational therapy sessions, working closely with parents, caregivers, and educators to ensure that each child receives holistic support tailored to their strengths, needs, and goals.

What We Do

At Embolden Allied Health, we provide comprehensive assessments, individualised therapy, parent and caregiver coaching, and collaborative support within home, school, and community environments.

Our goal is to empower children and their support networks to develop meaningful skills, strengthen independence, and build confidence in everyday life – reflecting our commitment to building confidence through care.

Emotional Regulation

Regulation is the ability to identify, manage, and move through our emotions. Some children may become easily overwhelmed, frustrated, or upset during everyday routines or transitions. Through supportive, neuro-affirming approaches, we help children build emotional awareness and coping skills, while guiding parents and caregivers in co-regulation strategies that model calm and connection. Together, we support children to feel safe, understood, and more confident navigating their emotions.

Play Skills

Social interaction and play form the foundation of learning, communication, and connection. Some children may find it difficult to join in play, take turns, build friendships, or interpret social cues. Others may rely heavily on adult direction or prefer solitary play. Our therapy helps children develop social understanding, age-appropriate play, communication skills, and confidence with peers through engaging, child-led activities.

School readiness involves supporting a child’s development to prepare them for the learning and social demands of school. We identify areas needing further support and provide targeted, play-based interventions to help children transition to school with confidence.

Sensory Processing

Sensory processing describes how the brain interprets information from the senses. Some children may be highly sensitive to sound, touch, movement, or visual input, while others may seek more intense sensory experiences to feel regulated. These differences can affect behaviour, attention, and participation in daily activities.

At Embolden Allied Health, we help identify each child’s sensory profile and provide tailored strategies to support comfort, regulation, and meaningful engagement in their environments.

Skills

Self-care skills such as dressing, toileting, eating, hygiene, and sleep routines are key to growing independence. Difficulties in these areas can lead to frustration for both children and families. We work alongside children and their caregivers to break tasks down, build routines, and teach practical strategies that support confidence and success in daily living.

Parent &
Carer Coaching

Families and carers play one of the most important roles in a child’s growth. Through parent and carer coaching, we provide practical strategies tailored to your child’s needs, helping you feel confident supporting regulation, behaviour, skill development, and daily routines. Our approach empowers families with tools they can use across home, school, and community settings.

Fine & Gross Motor Skills

Fine and gross motor skills are essential for everyday activities – from using cutlery, writing, and doing up zippers to climbing, balancing, or navigating playground equipment. Children may struggle with coordination, core strength, balance, or precise hand movements, which can impact play, learning, and independence. We use play-based therapy to strengthen motor skills and build confidence in physical tasks.

Building Independence in Daily Life

Independence develops through practising everyday tasks—managing belongings, following routines, making choices, solving problems, and feeling capable in new situations. We support children to build these skills in ways that match their developmental stage and strengths. Our focus is on fostering confidence, autonomy, and participation at home, school, and in the community.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children develop the skills they need to participate in the everyday activities that are important to them such as playing, learning, socialising, and becoming more independent in daily routines.

Occupational therapists look at the whole child, including their strengths, sensory needs, emotions, and environment, to understand what supports their development and what might be getting in the way. Using play-based and evidence-informed strategies, occupational therapists help children build the confidence and ability to engage meaningfully in their world.

Common areas Occupational Therapy supports include:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Sensory processing

  • Fine and gross motor skills

  • Social and play skills

  • Attention and learning

  • Self-care skills

  • Building independence in daily life

Does my Child need Occupational Therapy?

Many families seek Occupational Therapy when they notice their child is finding certain tasks, environments, or routines more challenging than expected for their age - or when they simply feel their child would benefit from extra support.

An Occupational Therapist may be helpful if your child:

  • Struggles with big emotions or becomes easily overwhelmed

  • Has difficulty with transitions, new environments, or changes in routine

  • Shows sensory sensitivities (e.g., to sound, clothing, textures) or sensory-seeking behaviours

  • Finds it hard to play, make friends, or join in social situations

  • Avoids fine motor tasks like drawing, cutting, or using cutlery

  • Has delays in self-care skills such as toileting, dressing, or feeding

  • Has trouble with attention, following instructions, or staying organised

  • Seems to be meeting milestones slower than expected

  • Is having challenges at school or preschool related to behaviour, learning, or participation

Every child develops at their own pace, so needing Occupational Therapy does not mean something is “wrong” - it simply means they may benefit from targeted support to build their confidence, skills, and independence. If you're unsure, a conversation or screening session can help determine whether Occupational Therapy is the right fit and what type of support would benefit your child.
